Samuel Gann

Since I've been researching my family, I wondered why Samuel Gann (1851-1929) was born in California and his parents and sibs born in Buchanan County, Missouri.
Finally found the info last night that Samuel's father Elbert Gann (1828-1902) was serving in the Seminole War and traveled in the south extensively. Elbert's future father in law, Colonel Samuel Ferril was his commanding officer.
Elbert returned to Missouri and married Polly.
About1849-1850 Elbert and Polly, Elbert's two brothers traveled by wagon train to Sutter's Fort area to mine for gold. (This story will be added to the Blog later)
Elbert stayed in California for only a few years and returned to Missouri.
Samuel eventually returned to Long Beach, California where he remained the rest of his life.
In 1910 at age 59 he is living in Missouri. The next record so far is 1916, age 65, retired, living in Long Beach, Calif. His daughter Etta Gann married John Gabriel Bergeron in 1914. I'm not sure if this was in California or Missouri.
